For years now, one of my favorite things to look at was the moon. No matter the time, the place, the season, the phase, the moon was always something I looked forward to seeing, something I was always drawn to. And, every winter, a bright star would appear next to her; and, for a while, they would be the only objects in a cotton candy sky. Luna had a friend, and winter nights quickly became my favorites. Years later, I learned that the bright light that had captivated me so dearly wasn't a star at all; it was Venus. And, in a season that often demanded so much, those friends, Venus and Luna, became a constant; every clear night, without fail, they would be there. And no matter how many stars glittered in the sky throughout the night, if you could find Luna, Venus wasn't far behind.
This artwork was and is a tribute, a love letter, to two of the night sky's leading ladies caught in the earliest hours of their reunion and inspired by one of many hours-long drives home in the colder months. They've been friends to me for years now, and I hope they can be friends to you too.
